Goals of the SEL classroom component:

• To build on our existing individual efforts and provide a collective approach to education that promotes academic excellence and helps students develop their capacity to understand themselves, make intelligent decisions, and develop healthy inter-personal relationships.

• To promote a school environment that is both challenging and nurturing, characterized by high expectations for all in self-management, inter-personal skills, and academic achievement. The common thread throughout: to underscore the importance of good decision making.
