VOLUME 2
Yorktown High School
June 2004
Highlights from the 2003-2004 School Year
In our last issue, we highlighted the Hall of Unity flags, ROCS Week, and the Common Ground assembly. To wrap up the year, here are other great activities relating to SEL and ROCS that occurred at YHS...we know that many more experiences happened in our classrooms throughout the year due to your efforts!
International Night
Yorktown held its third International Night on Wednesday, April 21, 2004. The theme for the evening was “Global Explosion”. The night featured performances from YHS students as well as students who are affiliated with other Arlington County organizations. An audience of 160 people enjoyed performances such as belly dancing, Tae Kwon Do, guitar and piano. A fashion show from around the globe followed the performances, with fashions from many countries including Bolivia, France, India, and Korea. Guests also experienced the cultures of France, Asia and Bolivia through exhibits. Three hundred dollars was raised through donations from participants which will be donated to the International Red Cross.
